Giuli with Lilies

Giulia Alsazia is a herbalist, teacher, and life model. This was my first time painting her in a life‑drawing session, and the artwork was completed later in my home studio.

Giulia has captivatingly beautiful frizzy hair that gives her an abundance of personality, and the lilies adorning her hair add a playful touch to the composition. Three dark bands encircle her forearm and the intricate tattoo on the other hand introduced a striking graphic element that contrasts with the softness of her form. The confident, textured markings throughout the painting emphasise the natural curves of her body and the expressive qualities of her pose.
