I love how Monica coordinates the colours of her outfit. She was wearing an emperor yellow robe with orange ribbons in her hair. It was a life drawing session so she left the robe draping over the chair. I took the artistic license and added it back in the painting... I also included the floral patterns after I got home! I think it gives the image a sense of luxury or exoticism of the far East, perhaps?

In this session, Monica tilted her head slightly to one side, resting a hand beneath the chin in a thoughtful and introspective pose. Her long black hair framed the face and I deliberately used the Prussian blue in background to contrast against the warm emperor yellow robe.
