I frequently find that my best works emerge when I’m not trying as hard.

This watercolour painting of Ange was created during a life‑drawing session. I was in a flow state… almost in the blink of an eye the painting was finished and I was genuinely happy with the outcome. Ange took a confident stance, her long brown hair swept over one shoulder, revealing gold hoop earrings that caught the light. The purple background and fluid brushwork helped create a soft and atmospheric mood.

This remains one of my favourite watercolour paintings of the female nude.
