Towards Ormiston Gorge

This painting captures a moment during my solo road trip through Central Australia to Northern Territory for 3 months in 2024.

I was at the point of Ormiston Pound Walk where the open plain was coming to an end and the little path was leading me into Ormiston Gorge. The sun was low on the horizon and the gnarly branches of the withered tree desperately trying to hang on to the remaining sunshine. Part of the gorge was bathing in the warmth, beautifully contrasting the cool shadow across the path.
